How the Mocha Café Makes Chocolate Truffles

How Do Chocolatiers Make Truffles?

For nearly ten years, the Dilettante Mocha Café has prided itself on the consistent quality of its chocolate truffles. Made by hand in small batches, these chocolate truffles taste even better than they look.

Named after their smooth, elegant appearance, chocolate truffles are the pinnacle of gourmet chocolates. Chocolatiers are required to spend careful attention rolling the chocolate ganache centers into balls and dipping each one to craft a perfect chocolate coat.

Using heirloom family recipes, passed down from three generations of chocolatiers, Dilettante’s chocolates are recognized throughout the Seattle-area. Dark Chocolate Ephemere, White Chocolate Praline, and Milk Chocolate Champagne each contribute to a variety of award-winning flavors.

How to Make Chocolate Truffles

Each chocolate truffle begins with finding the proper ingredients. Alongside non-GMO chocolate, Dilettante flavors its truffles using all-natural ingredients such as raspberries, heavy whipping cream, natural vanilla, and finely chopped pecans.

To create the chocolate ganache center, chocolatiers first pour warm cream chopped chocolate. The ingredients combine, creating a special melted chocolate and after cooling, will become the ganache center of the truffle.

The chocolate ganache is paired with complementary flavors such as fruit and liqueurs to achieve a sophisticated taste. Chocolatiers roll this new flavored ganache into small quarter-sized balls.

Finally, chocolatiers dip these balls into fine dipping chocolate and embellish them with nuts, powder, or additional chocolate. From beginning to end, it may take several hours to get a batch of truffles perfect to sell at the Mocha Café, but the effort is well worth it.

Hand-Dipped Truffles by Dilettante Chocolates

Often, chocolate truffles will try to cut corners by including artificial flavors, oils, or high fructose corn syrup. These ingredients are cheaper but come at the cost of diminished the nutrition and chocolate quality. Instead, Dilettante makes its truffles with care attention with premium ingredients and a high standard for quality chocolate.

Those curious to try any of Dilettante’s vibrant chocolate truffle flavors can find them at any Mocha Café location. Stop by and enjoy hand-crafted chocolates alongside artisan coffee and fresh pastries.
